Helen McCarter Littlejohn

Malone Farmer, December 25, 1901

Mrs. James W. Littlejohn, of Loon Lake, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Stickney, at      Lake Placid, on Wednesday last, where she had been stopping for medical treatment, and was buried from the old homestead in Merrillsville on Saturday. She had been ailing since last spring with a heart difficulty which steadily run its course. For years Mr. and Mrs. Littlejohn, almost a generation ago, conducted a hotel at Merrillsville and their circle of friends was a wide one, extending well throughout Northern New York. Mrs. Littlejohn was a woman of substantial character and worth, loving, kind and generous, and in her health was possessed of much energy and executive ability. The news of her death will bring sadness to many hearts. As a wife and mother she was devoted and will be greatly missed in the home which has been in recent years severely afflicted. Her husband and two daughters survive. Mrs. Stickney of Lake Placid, and Mrs. Sadie McAllister, who resides at home with her father. Rev. Mr. Macintosh, of Malone, a friend of the family, officiated at the funeral service. The sympathy of a large circle of friends and acquaintances in Malone goes out to Mr. Littlejohn and daughters in their great affliction.
