NEW YORK, March 25
Howard Finger Porter, 44, died at his home, 30 East Seventy-Second street, Tuesday following a long illness. Proprietor of an art store in this city, Mr. Porter was a summer resident of Saranac Lake, where he was the guest of his mother-in-law, Mrs. William Hanes of Lower Saranac lake.
Mr. Porter was born in Saugerties, N. Y. He attended Cornell University and was graduated from the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania in 1922.
After serving in the advertising departments of several New York publishing firms he established the art store in 1928. Mr. Porter also made copies of early American prints for inscription on chinaware.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nona Hanes Porter, a son, Richard Wellington Porter, a daughter, Nona H. Porter, a brother, Donald W. Porter, ant his mother, Mrs. Lusy E. Porter.
