J. Hubert Stevens was a member of the gold medal winning American two-man bobsled team of the 1932 U.S. Winter Olympics, with his brother, Curtis Stevens.  They were the brothers of fellow bobsledder Paul Stevens.  The team was part of the Saranac Lake Red Devils bobsled team.

J. HUBERT STEVENS, 60; WAS BOBSLED CHAMPION

LAKE PLACID, (AP) —J. Hubert Stevens, Winter Olympics bob sledder and former superintendent of the Whiteface Mountain Highway Commission, died of a heart attack Saturday night at his home. He was 60.

Stevens was a member of the 1932 and 1936 U.S. Winter Olympics, and won the two-man bobsled championship in the 1932 games with his brother, Curtis, as brakeman.

He also served as secretary of the Whiteface Mountain Authority. He retired recently.

Stevens had served on AAU national bobsled committees and was one of the first drivers on the Mt. Van Hoevenberg run when it opened in 1931.
