James Latour was the son of Leon J. Latour and Mary (Hart) Latour. He was a World War II veteran. He ran the Latour Fuel Company. In his later years he founded the Triangle Lumber Company saw mill in Onchiota.

James A. Latour
SARANAC LAKE - James A. Latour, 81, of Onchiota, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Saranac Lake on Aug. 31, 1922, he was the son of Leon and Mary (Hart) Latour.
Mr. Latour was a life-long resident of the Saranac Lake area and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. When he returned from the war he became the fourth generation to own and operate Latour Fuel which he continued to operate until 1966. He founded the Triangle Lumber Company in Onchiota, which he operated until 2000. He was active in community affairs and was a member of the Saranac Lake Central School District Board of Education and the Adirondack Medical Center Board. The Latour family donated the property on which the new hospital was built. A picture of Mr. Latour and an article are on display as part of the Adirondack Faces exhibit at the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake. Operating the Triangle Lumber Company was also his hobby, because he enjoyed being in the woods so much.
He is survived by his wife Ingred Canning Mayerle of Onchiota; his former wife Leona Latour of Saranac Lake; three daughters: Donna McGinnis of Saranac Lake, Ruth Keach of Cicero and Katherine Wisher of East Syracuse; two sons: James Latour m of Punta Gorda, Fla., and David Latour of Brewerton; seven grandchildren; three step-sons: Thomas Canning of Altona, Fla., Robert Canning of Rochester, and Donald Canning of Boston, Mass.; and a step-daughter: Joanne Morehead of Budd Lake, NJ.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Katherine Sturdy.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 17 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kevin McEwan from St. Bernard's Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
