Jeremiah Buckley was a World War II veteran.  He was a son of Patrick and Nora (Harney) Buckley.

SARANAC LAKE - Dr. Jeremiah L. Buckley, 83, of Point Pleasant Beach, N.J. and formerly of Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, April 17, at the Claremont Care Center in Port Pleasant, N.J.

Dr. Buckley was born in Black Brook on Dec. 30, 1900, the son of Patrick and Nora (Harney) Buckley. He had lived in Saranac Lake until 1926, and graduated from the University of Vermont in 1924 and from the University of Vermont Medical School in 1926.

He served his internship at St. Barnibas Hospital in Newark, N.J., and was a general practitioner in Nutley, N.J. from 1926 to 1968. Dr. Buckley was a staff physician at St. Barnabas Hospital, St. Mary's Hospital in Passaic, N.J., at the Passaic General Hospital and at the Clara Mast Hospital in Belleview, N.J.

He served in the medical branch of the United States Army during World War II.

A member of the American Medical Association, Dr. Buckley was also a member of New Jersey Medical Society and Essex County Medical Society. He was past president of the Nutley Lions Club, a communicant of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Lavallette, and a former member of St. Bonaventure Holy Name Society.

He was married to Elizabeth Derby who died in 1977. He later married the former Hazel Lloyd.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Stephenson of Enid, Okla.; three grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins. A brother, .Harold T. Buckley of Saranac Lake, predeceased him.

A mass of .Christian burial was held at 10 a.m. today at St. Bonaventure in Lavallette, N.J.

Local funeral arrangements were with the Keough and Son Funeral Home.

Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery in May.
