ALL ARE HELD BY U. S. COMMISSIONER

Unable To Secure Bail Immediately Week-End Party Spends Night In Jail

Four wealthy young New Yorkers, apprehended at Keene Sunday by Prohibition Officer Henry Thwaits in a Pierce Arrow car containing eight bottles of whiskey, benedictine and gin, were held in $2,000 each for the current term of federal court at Syracuse when arraigned before U. S. Commissioner Patterson last night. They were charged with illegal possession and transportation of intoxicating liquor.

They gave their names as John R. Dunlap, Jr., Mrs. Lorraine Dunlap and Mrs. Wanda Presbry, all of 142 East 49th street, and Douglas Delaney, 24 East 64th street, New York City.

They were unable to arrange bail immediately and were forced to spend the night behind the bars at Sheriff Day's hostelry, the Clinton County jail.

The quartet said they had been to Montreal over the week-end and were on the way back with a little “joy juice.”

It was rather a sad-faced party which entered the jail last night, but all took their capture as a sporting proposition and did not cry for any special favors, Sheriff Day said. The girls were togged out in the latest Easter finery and the men were not far behind.
