Mrs. Julia Oxford

CROWN POINT - Mrs. Julia Oxford, 56, the wife of former Saranac Lake Police Chief Gerald Oxford, died Thursday, March 22, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga.

She was born in Willsboro on May 29, 1927, the daughter of Chester and Iva (Moore) Martin.

Mrs. Oxford was a senior clerk at the Plattsburgh Municipal Lighting Department.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald of Crown Point — police chief in Saranac Lake from 1973 to 1980; a son, Kevin Oxford of the United States Air Force, stationed in England; her father of Schenectady; her step-mother, Margaret Martin of Schenectady; a sister, Dorothy McClain of AuSable; and a brother Raymond Martin of Schenectady.

There were no calling hours; the funeral service was held Saturday at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry.

Burial will be in Jay.

Memorial donations may be made to the Crown Point Fire Department Building Fund.
