Kenneth Orland Pratt, known as Sparky, was a World War II veteran.  He was a a son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Pratt.

Kenneth Pratt Dies

Kenneth Pratt, aged 40, of 66 Shepard Avenue, died suddenly yesterday about 12:30 p.m. at his home of a heart ailment. Mr. Pratt, who had been suffering from influenza, collapsed and died shortly after lunch.

The body is reposing at the Keough Chapel of Memories. There will be an American Legion service in the Chapel tomorrow night at 7:30, followed by a Rosary service at 8. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in St. Bernard's Church, and burial will follow in St. Bernard's cemetery.

Mr. Pratt was born in Saranac Lake on January 20, 1911, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Pratt, and attended schools in this village. He was a veteran of World War II, having joined the Navy on January 20, 1944, He received his discharge on December 19, 1945, and became associated with Leonard's Department store, prior to accepting a post with the Saranac Lake Post Office on October 1, 1947, as a special delivery letter carrier, he later became a substitute carrier and on February 16, 1949, was made a regular carrier, a post he held until his death. Previous to his service in the Navy he had worked at a defense plant in Illion.

Known as "Sparky" to his many friends, Ken Pratt was a popular figure in Saranac Lake, and for many years had been a volunteer worker whenever some civic project involved stage productions at the Pontiac theater, when he would take charge of the stage management.

He was a member of the Saranac Lake Boat and Waterways Club and the American Legion, Post 447.
