Lakeside House, established in 1978, is a 24-hour supervised community residence serving the needs of ten adults with diagnosed mental illness. Lakeside House is administered by a private, non-profit corporation and is certified by the New York State Office of Mental Health. The mission of Lakeside House community residence program is to provide a safe, homelike setting for adults with diagnosed mental illness who are transitioning from psychiatric hospitals to more independent living environments, or to those individuals whose hospitalization may be avoided by admission to our program. The program promotes rehabilitation by responding to each individual's desires, tolerance and capacity to participate in such interventions for the purpose of reaching their community living, social and work oriented goals. 1
