The Lake Clear Girl Scout Camp was located on the North shore of Lake Clear starting in 1960.  Elsie Wolff was one of the members of the Saranac Lake Girls Scouts Council that raised money to establish the camp.

Girl Scouts Explore New 75-Acre Campsite At Lake Clear as Fund-Raising Drive Opens

"It's the greatest", said Joan Wehs, Saranac Lake, and Susan Futterman, Tupper Lake, as they 'made a landing' at their new Lake Clear camp site recently. During the encampment the scouts explored the 75-acre property to see just where the lodge will be built and where future water-front and boating activities will take place, along the 6,000 feet of sandy shoreline. Generally, they let their imaginations run wild as they contemplated what the new camp would mean to Girl Scouting in the North Country.

A campaign for funds to complete the purchase of the land and to develop the site is underway in the Girl Scout neighborhoods of the North Country. People interested in youth and the development of Girl Scouting' are being asked to make generous subscriptions so that this new camp can become a reality.

The new camp is a much needed facility if Girl Scouting is to present a comprehensive program in this area. Present facilities make camping available for one week-to only 15% of the 2,500 registered Girl Scouts. The new camp will serve more than 400 scouts, each for a two-week period, when it is in operation. Troop camping will also be possible on a year-around basis.

Chairman for the campaign in Tupper Lake is Elmer J. Brown. Samuel Parmelee is chairman of the advance gifts committee and Patrick Quinn is organizing the committer for the scout family general gifts solicitation.

The campaign is scheduled for completion in mid-August.
