Larry Quigley, of Saranac Lake, pleaded guilty to maintaining a slot machine on his premises and was fined $25, together with the destruction of the machine.

Downtown's newest cocktail lounge, "Mr. Quigley's", welcomes the new decade by celebrating the past.
During the late 1920's and early 30's, Larry Quigley ran an eating establishment called “Larry’s Lunch" in the building next to the Saranac River, now the home of Dr. Y's tavern. With his location in the heart of downtown, Larry Quigley enjoyed a brisk business at a time many remember as this village's heyday. The sight of this little man in a straw hat was familiar to all the townspeople The sound of his hearty laugh was equally well-known.
The Depression forced Larry Quigley to move his business elsewhere in town and downtown Saranac Lake lost one of its most colorful characters. But not forever.
The opening of "Mr. Quigley’s" restores a bit of the Village's history while adding a new dimension to its future. "Mr. Quigley's" patrons will enjoy a quieter, more mellow atmosphere than is generally found downtown. They will be able to sit comfortably at tables and talk while looking out at the river, or watching sports and movies on the five-foot television screen. With its woodstove stoked full. ''Mr Quigley’s” will be the ideal spot for watching the Olympics during February's freezing weather.
The Grand Opening of this unique drinking emporium will take place Friday, January 11, at 4 p.m., featuring a double-bubble drink special from 5 - 9 p.m.
