MOIR—On Wednesday, July 13, at Saranac Lake, N. Y. Laura Merriam Russell, wife of Arthur Duncan Moir and daughter of the late Charles W. and Lucy A. Russell. Funeral private.
Mrs. Laura Merriam Russell Moir, wife of Arthur Duncan Moir and for 42 years a loved and esteemed member of this community, died at 12:30 o'clock last night at her summer home on Lake Colby. She was 73 years of age.
Although she had been in ill health for the past year, Mrs. Moir's death came as a surprise and shock to her many friends inasmuch as she had shown marked improvement recently. Her death was attributed to a heart ailment.
The funeral will be private and will be attended only by members of the immediate family and intimate friends. It was Mrs. Moir's earnest request that flowers be omitted.
The service will be conducted by the Rev. J. DeWolf Hubbard, rector of the Church of St. Luke the Beloved Physician, of which Mrs. Moir was an active member. Interment will be in Greenwood cemetery, Brooklyn.
Mrs. Moir was the daughter of the late Charles W. Russell of Greenfield, Mass., and the late Lucy Alvord Merriam. She married in 1886. Mr. and Mrs. Moir would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in September.
Her survivors Include her daughter Mrs. Howard Mason, who with her husband, Dr. Mason, is arriving this morning from New York City; her son, Arthur D. Moir, Jr., who is superintendent of the forestry service in the state of Washington, and William Wilmerding Moir, who is at present traveling in Europe, and a sister, Miss Anna Russell, of Leicester, Mass., who is at present in Saranac Lake.
Mrs. Moir's death saddened the community and expressions of sympathy were being extended today to members of her family by scores of friends and acquaintances.

My mother,Mary Hope Mason, was Jean Moir's youngest child Laura's grand daughter. According to Mary Hope, her mother Jean never had TB. The family came to Saranac because Laura had TB in the 1890s. She must have recovered because she lived until 1936. When they were not in Saranac, they lived with her husband's parents in NYC on West 10th St.
