Laurence A. Slaughter, 76, of Ormond Beach, Fla. and Upper Saranac Lake, died Tuesday night at his home here.
Mr. Slaughter was born in Selma, Ala., Oct. 7, 1892. He was in the banking business in Washington, D.C. until he took over the running of the Mills Hotel Properties at the death of Harrington Mills. He was president of the Upper Saranac Corp., which owned Saranac Inn, for 35 years.
Survivors are his wife, Dorothy Mills Slaughter; a daughter, Mrs. Charles R. Wooters of Larchmont; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Alfred Ellis Bowers of Silver Springs, Md.
Visiting hours at the Fortune Funeral Home are from 7 to 9 tonight. A Vigil Bible Service will be held at g p.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. John's in the Wilderness Roman Catholic Church in Lake Clear at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
