Lawrence M. Saumier

SARANAC LAKE — Lawrence M. Saumier, 79, died Saturday, Nov. 19 at the General Hospital of Saranac Lake. He was born in Lancaster, Ontario, Canada, April 27, 1909, the son of Medric and Gertrude (Sylvester) Saumier.

Mr. Saumier was a self-employed plumber. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the plumber's union Local 54 of Syracuse. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunting, fishing and trapping in the Adirondacks.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Jean) Amell of Bloomingdale an d Ms. Joyce Simmons of Reno, Nev.; two sisters, Mrs. Myron (Claire) Skeels and Mrs. Edward (Alda) Betters, both of Saranac Lake; one brother, Percy Saumier, of Saranac Lake; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Keough and Son Funeral Home, with a Bible vigil service a t 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale with Rev. Patrick Mundy, pastor, officiating. Following cremation, burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Bernard's School in care of the funeral home.
