Location: Adirondack Cottage Sanatorium; Trudeau Sanatorium

Year built:

The Lea Cottage was a part of the Trudeau Sanatorium. Dr. Norman Bethune lived there with three other patients, Nan Li, Dr. John Barnwell, and Dr. Lincoln Fisher. While there, he painted five by sixty foot mural on laundry wrapping paper depicting his life as a TB patient. The murals — once in the custody of the Saranac Lake Free Library — have been lost, but images of them remain.
