This photograph was published a third time, with a caption reading " Lloyd J. Symonds of Saranac Lake who has been promoted to the rank of private first class at an Air Service Command base in Italy. He arrived overseas in October, 1944 and was awarded the Combat Infantryman's badge the following month. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Symonds of Gabriels. His wife and two daughters reside at 31 Prospect avenue."

Lloyd J. Symonds was a World War II veteran.  He was a son of Ernest and Dora Symonds of Gabriels.

Lloyd Symonds

Lloyd Symonds, 46 of Gabriels, died April 15 at Saranac Lake General Hospital. He had been a mechanic and restaurant owner.

Mr. Symonds was born June 25, 1918 in Owls Head, a son of Ernest and Dora Gravel Symonds. He served in the Army in World War II.

Survivors are his mother who now lives in Saranac Lake; his wife, the former Velma Abbott; three daughters. Mrs Betty Mangano of Albany, Mrs. Patricia Stark of Rochester and Miss Karen Symonds of Albany; two brothers, Clarence of Saranac Lake and Ezra of. Vermontville; and a sister, Mm. Charles Park of Rochester.

A Rosary Service was held Saturday evening at the Fortune Funeral Home and a Funeral Mass was offered today at 10 m. at the Church of the Assumption, Gabriels. Burial was in Brighton Cemetery.
