Lynn D. Baxter was a World War II veteran.  He was a son of David and Minnie Chapman Baxter.

Lynn D. Baxter

Lynn D. Baxter, a retired insurance and real estate broker who had been associated with the Clinton J. Ayres Agency in Saranac Lake for many years, died at his home, 19 Riverside Dr., at 11:20 p.m. Friday.

Mr. Baxter was born in Leominster, Mass., on April 14, 1906, a son of David and Minnie Chapman Baxter. He was married on May 7, 1932 in Kingston, N. Y., to Isabelle Ayres who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Manhey of Schenectady, Mrs. Susan Bryde of Cornwall-on-Hudson, and Miss Anne Baxter of Saranac Lake; a brother, Justin, of Plattsburgh; and five sisters, Miss Viola Baxter, Mrs. Thelma Reynolds, Mrs. Norma Wright, Mrs. Doris Drown, and Mrs. Mary Crowley, all of Ellenburg Depot.

He was a member of the Rotary Club, the Elks, the Masons, the Moose, and the American Legion, having served with the Army Air Force as a corporal in World War II.

The Rev. William Vigne, pastor of Adirondack Community Church, officiated at the funeral service at 2 p. m. Monday in the Methodist Church. Interment was in Pine Ridge Cemetery. An Elks service was held Sunday evening at the Fortune Funeral Home.
