Dr. Malcolm Roberts worked for the Saranac Laboratory and later the Trudeau Laboratory. He lived with his family in Saranac Lake at Trudeau for two years after its closure. As per the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, May 1956 was a busy month for Dr. Roberts. He reported to Trudeau Trustees on his radiology work done at the Saranac Laboratory for the major mining companies and was also the winner of the Lab's annual ice out contest (ice out on Lower Saranac Lake: 4pm May 6, 1956). Later, in November 1960, he hosted the Senior High School Fellowship for a dessert discussion of Nihilism and Humanism. According to the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, in 1962, Dr. Roberts and his family lived at 18 Shepard Avenue. He was an elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Saranac Lake.

His daughter, Martha R. Fisher, provided Historic Saranac Lake with a letter from Dr. E. L. Trudeau to Mr. D. H. Burrell in September, 2011.
