Mrs. William Callanan
Margaret Tinsdale Callanan, 75, wife of William Callanan, prominent social and church worker of Saranac Lake for more than 40 years died Tuesday evening at her home, 19 Academy street. She had been ill 10 days following a stroke.
Born in Clintonvllle, daughter of John and Julia Tinsdale, she was a resident of that community until her marriage to William J. Callanan in 1887 at Keeseville. Six years after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Callanan moved to Saranac Lake, and have continued their residence in that village. They celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary January 27th.
For many years Mrs. Callanan was an ardent worker in the societies of St. Bernard's Catholic church as a member of the Altar and Rosary society and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was prominently identified with the Village Improvement and Lendahand societies
Surviving are her husband, William J. Callanan; a son, Andrew; a daughter, Mrs. Paul F. Jaquet of Delmar and a brother, Terry J. Tindale of Clintonville.
A requiem mass was said at St. Bernard's church at 9 o'clock Thursday morning. Burial was In Keeseville in the Immaculate Conception church cemetery.
