Margaret Slaughter Wooters was the daughter of Laurence A. and Dorothy Mills Slaughter. As a child, she spent summers at the Saranac Inn, owned by her grandfather, Harrington Mills. She remembers seeing Rose Kennedy, the matriarch of the Kennedy family, who spent time there over many summers, always being seated at the same table, always alone.
