Margaret Thompson worked as a cook at Little Joe's, and at the Wawbeek.  She was a daughter of Joseph and Viola (Wilcox) Willette.

LAKE PLACID — Margaret Thompson, 83, formerly of Vermontville, died Friday, May 4, 1990, at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid, where she had been a resident since 1985.

She was born June 17, 1906, in Saranac Lake, the daughter of Joseph and Viola (Wilcox) Willette.

She was a lifelong resident of the area and had been employed as a cook at Little Joe's, the Wawbeek and the Cedar Post, retiring in 1970. She was active in the Home Bureau and was a former member of the VFW Auxiliary No. 3357.

She is survived by three sons, Kenneth Thompson of Altamont, Tenn., Leon Thompson of San Clemente, Calif, and Joseph Thompson of Saranac Lake; one daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Carol) LaFountain of Dallas; one brother, Douglas Willette of Johnson City, Tenn.; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Connie Smith of Plattsburgh; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, John Thompson, died earlier.

A Mass of Christian Burial was to be held at 11:15 a.m. today in St. Bernard's Church here. Burial was to follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Bernard's School in care of the funeral home.
