Mark's Restaurant Bar and Grill operated from before 1945 through 1984. Although its earliest appearance in the newspaper archives is in 1946, one of the Norwegian Seamen, Hjalmar Berentsen, wrote to Mark Carson in 1945 after his return to Norway, so the bar has to have existed before that date.
Mark Carson's obituary states that he purchased the William Herron block in 1936 at 26 Broadway and operated it as Mark's Grill. After his death, the bar and restaurant were operated by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph LaPierre, and later by Henry Troost. In 1959 it was operated by Joseph P. and Rose Lynch. From 1965 to 1982 it was operated by Vincent Pelletieri.
