Martin W. Lewis was a World War II veteran.   He was a son of Robert and Mary (Tierney) Lewis.

SARANAC LAKE - Martin W. Lewis, 82, of Lake Colby, died Wednesday, July 20, at Albany Medical Center.

Born in Bloomingdale July 14, 1906, he was the son of Robert and Mary (Tierney) Lewis.

Mr. Lewis was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake. He graduated from Saranac Lake Central School.

He married the late Mary Conroy Sept. 28, 1931, in St. Bernard's Church. Mrs. Lewis died Feb. 15, 1987.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army postal department. He was employed at the Saranac Lake Post Office for 35 years, retiring in 1972 as assistant postmaster.

He was a member of St. Bernard's Church, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and Federal Retirees Association.

Survivors include one sister, Miss Ann M. Lewis of Lake Colby; and one god-child, Stephanie Ransom of Saranac Lake; and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will take place from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, and 2 to 2:45 p.m. Saturday, at the Keough & Son Funeral Home in Saranac Lake.

A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Bernard's Church, with Rev. Douglas Comstock officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Bernard's cemetery.
