Mary's daughter, Elizabeth, wrote in March of 2017, "Mom was born on January 13, 1913 in New York. At about the age of 25, she was diagnosed with TB and sent to a TB center in Saranac Lake. The center was called Stony Wold, and it was located on Lake Kushuqua. Mom spent three years there from about 1938 to 1941. When she was well enough, she came home and married Sherman V. Petrie, Jr. on November 1, 1941. They had their first child in 1943 and later had three more children. Mary -- known as Dot -- lived with her family in Bronxville, NY until her death in 1991 at the age of 78."
