Mary Ethel Jones Dunn Gedroiz was the superintendent of the Lake Placid General hospital for many years.

HOSPITAL HEAD HERE MARRIES DOCTOR
Mrs. Ethel Jones Dunn of this village and Dr. Anthony Gedroiz of Saranac Lake were married at 9 a.m. Thursday in New York city, the ceremony being performed by the Rt. Rev. Robert Reilly.
The bride is the daughter of Sidney A. Jones and the late Mrs. Beatrice Jones of Lake Placid and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Gedroiz of 112 Lake street, Saranac Lake.
The bride wore a gown of blue velvet with matching hat and accessories and a corsage of orchids in apricot shade. She was attended by her sister, Miss Genevieve Jones, of Lake Placid who wore dubonnet velvet with hat to match. The groom was attended by John Whiting of New York city.
Mrs. Gedroiz has been the superintendent of the Lake Placid General hospital for nine years, being an active member of the New York State Hospital association and the American Hospital association, also serving on the committee of the New York State hospital legislative board. Dr. Gedroiz is a graduate of Saranac Lake high school, St. Bonaventure college and the Georgetown medical school. He is on the surgical and obstetrical staffs of the Saranac Lake General hospital and the visiting staff of the Lake Placid hospital. He is first vice-president of the Saranac Lake Kiwanis club, a member of the Saranac Lake and Osler clubs, and the Saranac Lake, New York State, Franklin county and the American Medical societies.
Mrs. Gedroiz will resume her duties at the local hospital to remain until spring, when the couple will reside at 17 Church street, Saranac Lake.
Following the ceremony Dr. and Mrs. Gedroiz left for Chicago to attend the convention of the American College of Surgeons.

Mrs. Ethel Gedroiz
Mrs. Anthony B. Gedroiz, wife of the prominent Saranac Lake physician, died at 1:40 p. m. Wednesday at Saranac Lake General Hospital.
Mrs. Gedroiz was born, Mary Ethel Jones, May 4, 1907, in New York City, a daughter of Sidney and Beatrice Meyers Jones. She attended St Elizabeth's Convent, the Rockland School of Nursing in Maine and completed her training at the Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital and the Staten Island Hospital. She went to Lake Placid in 1931 to work at Lake Placid General Hospital and later was appointed superintendent of the hospital. She married Dr. Gedroiz on Oct. 16, 1940.
Mrs. Gedroiz was an active member of the Saranac Lake General Hospital Auxiliary and, over a period of years, served on many committees and was general chairman of the auxiliary's annual dinner-dance. She was very artistic and her talents were often called upon to design the unusual decorations for which the dinner-dance came to be known. She also was associated with many charitable organizations in the village.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Gedroiz is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Nelson B. Dane Jr. of Chatham, N. J.; a son, Paul, a student at St. Bonaventure University; five sisters, Mrs. J. G. Nagley, Mrs. Mary Bliss, Mrs. James Ensign, Mrs. John Maxson, all of California, and Mrs. Bert Coomes of Sherwood, Mich.; and three brothers, F. Paul Jones and David W. Jones of Lake Placid, and John A. Jones of Connecticut.
Friends may call from 7 to 10 o'clock this evening and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 o'clock on Friday at Madonna Chapel of the Keough and Son Funeral Home. A Solemn High Requiem Mass will be offered at 10 a. m. Saturday at St. Bernard's Church. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Agnes Cemetery in Lake Placid.
Mrs. Gedroiz' family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, friends wishing to remember her make donations to the Saranac Lake General Hospital Building Fund.
