Miss Maureen McCoy Becomes Bride Today

Amid a festive setting of Christmas greens and poinsettias the marriage of Miss Maureen Elizabeth McCoy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard McCoy, of Saranac Lake, and Edward Mather Pendergast, son of Edward M. Pendergast, Sr., and the late Kathleen M. Pendergast, of this village, was solemnized in St. Bernard's Church at 11 a.m. today.

The Rev. John Pendergast, brother of the groom, performed the wedding ceremony and celebrated the Nuptial Mass. Serving the Mass were Dermott Lynch and Brian Lynch, cousins of the bride. Visiting clergy seated in the sanctuary were Rev. Joseph Dowd, Rev. John Wiley, Rev. Louis Gardner, Msgr. James R. McClure, Rev. Vernon Doe and Rev. John Wyzykowski.

Miss Jane Morgan, great aunt to the groom, presided at the organ and accompanied soloists Mrs. John Pearl and John D. Buckley.

Joseph Pendergast, brother the groom, served as best man. Ushers were Forrest Morgan and Jack Lawless, of Saranac Lake, Lloyd McDonnough, of Malone, and Merton Mason, of Tupper Lake.

Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held at the Hotel Saranac.

The couple have left on a brief wedding trip to Virginia. They will return to Syracuse to make their home at 1009 Madison St. The bride studied at the Mary Louis Academy, Jamaica, L.I., and was graduated from the Saranac Lake High School and the College of St. Rose, Albany, where she was enrolled in the Elementary Education Dept. She is a member of the faculty at the Cicero Elementary School.

Mr. Pendergast is an alumnus of the Saranac Lake High School, Class of 1949. He served in the armed forces Intelligence Dept. Germany for three years and presently a student in the Business Administration Course of LeMoyne College, Syracuse.
