Dear Ceil:

Received your most welcome letter and was not able to answer it until now. As I want to get this off to you right away don’t mind scribbling.

I have my own room now, and I think it is much better. That cry-baby is a pain in the neck. Just imposed on me that’s all. He is going home in a couple of weeks. That S. of a B. can go home, and I have to stay.

You know I am taking the gas treatment, and it was terrible in the beginning. It is not so bad now. I am pretty used to it. I must keep on taking it for about three years more. However if it is successful you feel like taking it all the time. My throat is awful sore, sometimes I think I am never going to get better. I am making a novena and Ella and the girls are too. That seems the only salvation. These doctors cannot create miracles. They can only help you. The throat doctor is a bit heartless. When he cauterizes my throat it sure does hurt. Sometimes I think it will never get better. Well, I will leave it in God’s hands.

So you are going away for a rest. I guess you need it alright.

If at any time you don’t hear from me get in touch with the house they may have heard from me.

Well no more for now, kiss James for me also lumpy and Jackie.

As ever - Jack

P.S. Received your card. Thanx

(Note: Jack died less than 2 months after writing this letter).
