SARANAC LAKE - Morris Edelberg, 76, a former Saranac Lake furrier, died Tuesday in Rochester, where he had lived since 1970.
Mr. Edelberg was born in Latvia and, as a child, moved with his family to Jersey City, N.J. In 1916 he came to Saranac Lake where his older brother, Samuel, was in the fur business. When his brother died in 1961, he continued in the business until his retirement in 1970.
Survivors are: his wife, Ida, of Rochester; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Clare) Rotenberg of Rochester; a son, Alan of Cincinnati; and three grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Fortune Funeral Home. Interment will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Edelberg's family requests that flowers be omitted. Those wishing to remember him may make contributions to the Saranac Lake General Hospital or the Cancer Society.
