Mrs. Nita Green

SARANAC LAKE - Mrs. Nita Green of 47 Main Street, died Saturday morning, Jan. 29, at the General Hospital of Saranac Lake.

She was born in Saranac Lake, the daughter of Anselm and Ellen (Nichols) Parsons.

Mrs. Green was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake. She and her husband, Charles, operated an Oneida County Creamery at 47 Main St., from 1927 to 1930. When it became a Grand Union they managed it until 1942. The Greens purchased the building in 1942 and have operated the business as the Charles Green Market to the present day.

Mrs. Green was a life member of the Whiteface Mountain Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and of Zenith Court Order of the Amaranth. She was also a member of the Ladies Temple of the Oriental Shrine of Loasa Court.

Survivors include her husband whom she married April 27, 1927; a niece, Mrs. Theodore (Jean) Russell of Mohawk; a grandniece, Betsy Russell of Penn Yan; and a grandnephew, Richard Russell of Mohawk.

The funeral service was at 11 a.m., today at St. Luke's Church, with the Rev. Philip Snyder, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery in May.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Luke's Memorial Fund.

Funeral arrangement were with the Fortune Funeral Home.
