Dear Celie,

Received your most welcome letters. I guess you thought I would never write, but you know how it is when you don’t feel so good.

I weigh 173 ½ so am pretty near normal. My cough is about the same however.

The weather up here is very cool now, so anyone coming up should be prepared for it.

I don’t know even yet if anyone is coming up or not. They are undecided. It cost so much money, & money is very scarce.

The pictures of the kids are very cute. Especially James. He was always cute.

I am still waiting for those magazines. I guess they will be here soon tho.

I received a letter from Geo. Morabit. He is still studying music.

Have you heard from the C.W.(child welfare) yet? Did you give them my doctor’s name? He was in to see me and said they were in communication with him, and that everything was O.K.

(Here a full section of the letter has been cut out, as if by scissors, so a section of page 2 and a section of page 4 are missing, as they are back to back).

friends? I trust my misfortune overtakes them in these hard times.

Is O’Connor working yet? This is an awful time to be out of work. You can’t buy a job. How about Margaret Mack? Is she working? When she quit them they sure missed her. I guess he will have to go back to rolling dice for awhile.

This damn disease is very discouraging. One day you feel good and the next terrible. It is very hard to realize that they are making any progress at all. Your progress, if any, is extremely slow.

Do you hear any more from fathead Murphy? I suppose he is just as stupid as ever.

The sun is out today for about the first time in four days. It cheers you or me up for that matter to see it.

Occasionally I run a temp. Some say it is good & some say it is bad. You don’t know who to believe.

I hope Roosevelt gets in don’t you? We (the rest of this letter has been cut out)
