SARANAC LAKE — Olive B. Norman, 97, of Saranac Lake, died Sunday, May 15, 1994, at the Adirondack Medical Center.

Born Sept. 3, 1896 in Bath, she was the daughter of William G. and Lucretia (Johnson) Brundage. She graduated from Haverling High School in 1916. At the time of her death she was the oldest living graduate of that school. In 1918 she graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology as an institutional manager. On Nov. 26, 1921 she married Thomas C. Norman. The couple resided in Bloomingdale from 1921 until 1925, when they moved to Saranac Lake. They operated the B.F. Norman and Son Farms, later known as Norman Farms. She was also employed as a dietician and assistant manager of the Santanoni in Saranac Lake. Mr. Norman died May 4,1983.

A life member and past chaplain of the Order of The Eastern Star, Mrs. Norman was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for more than 65 years, the Ladies of the Oriental Shrine, and the Ladies of the Elk. She also had been a member of the Bloomingdale Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Thomas C. Norman Jr., and a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Phyllis) Knobel, both of Saranac Lake; seven grandchildren, Ann Norman Aumand of Massena, Dr. Susan Norman Benway of Jay, Thomas C. Norman III of Harrisburg, Pa., Robert Knobel of Nashville, Tenn., Richard D. and R. Russell Knobel, both of Saranac Lake, and Randal P. Knobel of Lockport; 13 great-grandchildren; and two nephews and a niece.

She was predeceased by a brother, Grattan H. Brundage.

Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Lowenthal, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery in Vermontville.

Memorial donations may be made to the Oriental Temple Shriners Children's Hospital Fund or to the Saranac Lake Adult Center in care of the funeral home.
