Oliver Patnode lived in Onchiota for most of his life. He worked for the New York Central Railroad until his retirement in 1962.

ONCHIOTA - Oliver Patnode died Friday evening at the Saranac Lake General Hospital. He was born on July 26, 1891, in Churubusco, the Son of Caesar and Sara Boyea Patnode.

His wife, the former Dora LaMora, died in 1974.

He is survived by six sons: Walter of Rainbow Lake, Francis of Dannemora, Harold of Onchtota, Robert of Lake Clear, Roland and Raymond of Saranac Lake; two daughters: Mrs. Geneva Goldner of Hammond, Indiana, Miss Mildred Patnode of Onchitota; a brother William of Saranac Lake, a sister, Mrs. Angeline Tormey of Onchiota; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He had been a resident of Onchiota for most of his life. He worked for the New York Central Railroad until his retirement in 1962.

There will be calling hours today at the Fortune Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Bible Vigil will be held at 7:15 this evening and a Mass of the Resurrection will be said Tuesday at 10 a.m.. at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale with Father Peter Ward officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery.
