Paul F. Jaquet Dies: Retired U. S. Architect
Paul Franz Jaquet, 62, retired State Department architect, died Wednesday at Georgetown Hospital. He lived at 1607 44th st. nw.
After an impressive career in New York, Mr. Jaquet came to Washington in 1938 as consulting architect for the Public Buildings Administration. He was detailed to the Department of State for six years, and in 1944, was transferred to the Foreign Buildings Operations division of the State Department. Among his achievements were the designs of United States embassies and legations in Lima, Peru; Managua, Nicaragua; Port au Prince, Haiti; and Quito, Ecuador.
Born in Soleure, Switzerland, he came to this country with his parents at an early age. He graduated from the Drexel Institute, Philadelphia and took graduate work at the Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh, Pa. and the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Marie Callanan Jaquet, whom he married in 1915, and a daughter, Margaret Alice Jaquet of the 44th st. address; and a son, Dr. Paul F. Jaquet, of 3900 14th st. nw. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John G. Whelley, of Saranac Lake, N. Y. and Mrs. George E. Porter of Rochester, Minn.
Requiem Mass will be said at Our Lady of Victory Church, 4835 MacArthur blvd. nw. at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.

Paul Jaquet Dead; Service Is Tomorrow
Funeral services for Paul F. Jaquet, designer of the North Elba town hall and St. Bernard’s Parochial school, will be held tomorrow morning from Our Lady of Victory church in Washington, D. C.
Mr. Jaquet, a former resident of Saranac Lake, died yesterday at his home, 1670 44th Street, N.W., Washington, D. C., following an illness of some months.
He was born July 7, 1889 in Switzerland the son of Frank A. and Martha Z. Jaquet. He attended the Drexel Institute and the University of Pennsylvania. In November 1914 he married the former Miss Marie Callanan of Saranac Lake. He was associated with the firm of Scopes and Feustmann in this village.
In 1929 Mr. Jaquet became an architect for the State of New York. He had charge of a large state building program including sanatoria, mental hospitals and prisons. He served in this capacity until 1936 when he entered private practice.
In 1939 he was appointed to a designing and consulting position with the Foreign Buildings office of the U. S. State department. He designed United States embassys, legations and residences in South America, Central America and Australia.
Mr. Jacquet retired in June 1950 because of failing health.
Surviving are his wife, Marie C. of Washington, D. C.; one son, Paul F. Jaquet, Jr., of Washington; three daughters, Margaret Alice Jaquet of Washington, Mrs. John G. Whelley, of Saranac Lake, and Mrs. George Porter of Rochester, Minn., and five grandchildren.
