Paul Stephen was a World War II veteran. He was a son of Francis and Grace D. Dormer Stephen, and a brother of Joseph Stephen. From his brother's brief memoir, it appears that Paul may have first come to Saranac Lake as a TB patient.

SARANAC LAKE -- Paul Stephen, 80, of Saranac Lake, died Friday at Saranac Lake General Hospital. He had been a resident of Saranac Lake since 1920. Mr. Stephen was born April 7, 1899, the son of Francis and Grace D. Dormer Stephen. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 447 and Knights of Columbus Council 599. He was the former owner/operator of the Bloomingdale Ave. Liquor store.
He is survived by two nieces and two nephews.
Calling hours were held Sunday afternoon and evening at the Keough and Son Memorial Chapels. A Mass of Christian Burial was, said Monday at the Keough and Son Memorial Chapels, with Rev. C.J. MacAvoy serving as celebrant. Interment took place in St. Bernards Cemetery.
