LEWISTON - The Rev. Peter W.O. Hill, 88, of Burt Circle, died Saturday, Oct.. 7, 1995, in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston.
He was born Nov. 16, 1906, in Cornwall, England, the son of Peter and Beatrice (Code) Hill.
From 1930 to 1947, he worked extensively in missionary devotion in Canada and continued after coming to the United States in 1947. Rev. Hill became an ordained minister in 1931.
His last assignment was at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Saranac Lake, where he served as the minister for 14 years.
He was on the organizing board of the Dechantel apartments [sic] and widely known in the community.
After his retirement in 1974, he moved to Lewiston, where he ministered, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He also ministered at St. John's Episcopal Church in Youngstown and Wilson, and at various times at St. Stephen's Episcopal, The Epiphany Episcopal and St. Peter's Episcopal churches, all in Niagara Falls.
His wife, the former Mary E. Robins, died in 1984. Rev. Hill is survived by a son, Peter W. Hill of Mississauga, Ont.; and two grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Cyril Hill, who died in 1967.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund. Arrangements were by the Hardison Funeral Home.

Fr. Peter Hill celebrates last service at St. Lukes
SARANAC LAKE — The Rev. Peter W.O. Hill celebrated the Eucharist Sunday for the last time at the Church of St. Luke, the Beloved Physician, as rector of the parish. He retires from his rectorship after 14 years of leadership at St. Luke's.
The message he left with the congregation of over 200 at the 10 o'clock service was the importance of Christianity moving ever forward. "The future is out of our hands, but the Christian Church must face the future," he said He pointed out that the great division is between those who look back and those who look forward to see life. To see life as a great adventure is to see it as a great fellowship, he said.
The four boys who served at the altar were Stephen and David Bombard, Ward Pratt, and Marshall Palmer. The girls who took the elements for consecration to the altar were Mary Bombard and Patty Gladd. Fr. Hill commended Palmer for his achievement in receiving the God and Country Award in Scouting.
Following the service, a reception was held in the parish house. Refreshments were served by St. Luke's Guild.
Thomas Cantwell, senior warden, had words of deep appreciation and affection for Father Hill as he presented Fr. and Mrs. Hill with a purse from the church family and friends. The check was enclosed with a water color sketch made by Marion LeJeune. The Hills also received gifts from the three church Guilds. The Rev. James Kane of St. Bernard's Church, representing the Interchurch Council presented Fr. Hill with a gift from the clergy, and spoke warmly about their close association. Lewiston, New York will be their future home.
