Philmore "Phillip " Swinyer was a guide, a caretaker, and a farmer.  He is buried in Union Cemetery, Vermontville.

SWINYERS WED 58 YEARS

Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Swinyer of Vermontville are celebrating their 58th wedding anniversary today. They were married on Oct. 20,190l in the home of Mr. Swinyer’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Swinyer in Vermontville.

Mr. Swinyer, now retired, was caretaker at the McAlpin camp on St. Regis Lake for fifteen years. After that time, he built a home on Easy Street where the couple lived for 12 years. During that time he worked as caretaker and guide. In 1904 Mr. and Mrs. Swinyer bought a farm in Vermontville and in 1936 Mr. Swinyer retired from farming.

Philip Swinyer Dies

Philip L. Swinyer died at midnight last night at his home in Vermontville.

He was born October 5, 1879 at Paul Smiths and lived in this area all his life. He was a carpenter and retired about ten years ago. His parents were Mitchell and Harriet Otis Swinyer.

Mr. Swinyer is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Lucy Otis of Gabriels, Mrs. Ruth Lietzenmayer of Ticonderoga, Mrs. Hattie Hopseker and Mrs. Kathleen Cass of Vermontville. He is also survived by a son, Francis of Vermontville, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews
