Pliny Hilliard Miller, the son of Captain Pliny Miller, was a mechanic, cooper, guide, lumberman and businessman. He married Lois E. Bushnell, with whom he had nine children, among whom were Ensine Miller, and Milo B. Miller, who became major figures in the development of the village. When Lois died, he married Hannah Wiggins, with whom he had a daughter, Elizabeth Miller.
