Raymond L. Muncil, Sr. was a World War II veteran. He operated his own business, Muncil Trucking, for 35 years.

SARANAC LAKE — Raymond L. Muncil Sr., 67, of 10 Santanoni Avenue, died Friday, May 31, 1991, at the Medical Center Hospital in Burlington, Vt., following a short illness.

He was born Jan. 31, 1924, in Saranac Lake, the son of Plymon and Julia (Mousseau) Muncil. He married Helen McCormick on Oct. 6, 1943, at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake.

Mr. Muncil was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the European Theater. He was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake and owned and operated his own business, Muncil Trucking, for 35 years until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of St. Bernard's Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3357. He was a member of the Saranac Lake Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the Saranac Lake Fish and Game Club.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Ronald Muncil of Saranac Lake; five daughters, Mrs. Craig (Rosemary) Brennan of Carthage. Mrs. Hal (Judith) Post of Saratoga. Mrs. Peter (Susan) Van Dien and Mrs. Deborah Jo Hewitt, both of Saranac Lake; and Mrs. Jerry (Darlene) McDermott of Westerlow. Also, three sisters, Mrs. Charles (Salina) Gallo of lake Placid. Mrs. Kenneth (Florence) Mulligan and Mrs. Robert (Kate) Sawyer, both of Saranac Lake; 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Two of Mr. Muncil's sons, Michael and Raymond Muncil, Jr., died earlier.

Calling hours were held Sunday at the Keough and Son Funeral Home. A Bible Vigil service was held at 7:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial took place today at 11:15 a.m. al St. Bernard's Church with the Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Burial followed in St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the High Peaks Hospice or the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department, in care of the funeral home.
