Former local businesswoman dies
SARANAC LAKE — Mrs. Ruth Munn, a businesswoman in this area for many years, died this morning at the General Hospital of Saranac Lake. She and her husband were the owners and operators, of Munn's Gas and Electric here for many years.
She was born in Goffstown, N.H., the daughter of Edward and Grayce Brown, and later moved to this area. A graduate of the Saranac Lake High School, she was the first to graduate from the school's music course.
She then worked at the local library for six years.
In 1925, she married Wells Munn.
In 1929, their daughter, Jeanne, died in infancy.
Mrs. Munn then joined her husband in their business, Munn's Gas and Electric which was located on Woodruff Street. They continued in that location for 42 years.
Mr. Munn died in 1976 at the Cedar Nursing Home at Rouses Point.
Mrs. Munn became a resident of the nursing home, and later moved to Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid.
