Other information: The Saranac Lake Hardware Company was organized on March 1, 1930 and opened its doors at 33 Main Street. Richard R. Woodruff, Wilbur J. Whitman, Leon J. Thompson and Homer Boyer were the original partners. In 1938 Roy J. Cromie acquired Mr. Boyer's interest. On March 1, 1948 the firm was incorporated under the name Saranac Lake Hardware, Inc.
It closed in 1976.

Dinner Party Marks 18th Anniversary of S.L. Hardware, Inc.
With the 19th year since its establishment well in progress, the Saranac Lake Hardware, Inc., held a dinner party for employees and their wives at 6:30 o'clock Monday evening at the Elks club.
The banquet was in observance of the company's 18th anniversary on March 1, which also marked the incorporation of the business.
The Saranac Lake Hardware company was organized on March 1, 1930 and opened its doors at the present site at 33 Main street. Richard R. Woodruff, Wilbur J. Whitman, Leon J. Thompson and Homer Boyer were the original partners.
In 1938, Roy J. Cromie acquired Mr. Boyer's interest in the business. On March 1 of this year, the firm was incorporated under he name of the Saranac Lake Hardware, Inc.
The officers are Mr. Woodruff, president; Mr. Whitman, vice president; Mr. Thompson, secretary and Mr. Cromie, treasurer.
In addition to carrying extensive hardware supplies, paints and some sports equipment, the hardware company has the franchise for distribution of artificial gas and is agent for heating products. It also conducts an active plumbing and heating business.
Following the dinner Monday evening, dancing and singing were enjoyed. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Richard R. Woodruff, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur J. Whitman, Mr. and Mrs. Leon J. Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Roy J. Cromie, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford W. McCormick and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Myers. Also Mr. and Mrs. William Tyler, Mr. and Mrs. Earl LaVallee, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Grishom, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. William Vaughn, Mr. and Mrs. Louis D'Onofrio, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Connor and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ormsby.
Also Mrs. John Fogerty, Roswell Stearns, Sidney Smith, Martin Favero, Jr., and Miss Jacqueline Linney.
