Scarborough Cottage on Lake Avenue was operated by Mrs. Annie A. Scarborough. It was listed in the 1902 Directory. As there is a J. S. Scarborough who died in 1898 buried in Pine Ridge Cemetery, this may be one of those circumstances in which a couple came to Saranac Lake because the husband had T.B. When he subsequently died, the wife made a living by operating a cure cottage for others in their home, with the skills she had learned in caring for her husband.
