SIMEON J. MOODY

Tupper Lake this week mourns the loss of one of its oldest and most respected residents in the death of Simeon J. Moody, which took place on, Sunday morning, Oct. 20th, in the 81st year of his age, after some time of severe suffering from arteriosclerosis.

Mr Moody was one of the oldest and best known residents of the Adirondack country, and all who knew him well will mourn his passing.

He was born at Saranac Lake March 1st, 1831, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Moody. He was united in marriage Jan. 1st, 1852 to Miss Lavina Wise; to this union four children were born, William, Fred, Charles and John, two of whom are living. His first wife died June 8th, 1861.

His second marriage took place March 22nd, 1864[?] to Miss Sarah Evelyn Hull of Saranac Hollow, who survives him, with two brothers, Fayette and Robert, who reside at Saranac Lake.

Mr. Moody was the oldest member of the Tupper Lake lodge Independent Order Odd Fellows.

He moved here about 55 years ago and had been a continuous resident among us up to the time of his death.

The funeral services were held from his late residence on the Moody road on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. A. W. Maddox officiating, burial taking place in the Tupper Lake cemetery.
