Year built: ,the original log cabin hotel, built 1849 burned in 1906

Sunnyside Tourist Home was operated by Nettie A. Selkirk.  In 1954 it was operated by Jerome Samburgh.  Ads for the hotel ran in the Paul Smiths newsletter Post Scripts from 1950 to 1956. In 1959 it was operated by George O. and Gladys Bellows Farmer. It seems to have been in business through 1965.

DEMS DECIDE ON DELEGATES

Delegates and alternates In the Fourth Judicial District convention in September were nominated for the Fall Primary last night by the Franklin County, Democratic Committee at a meeting held at the Sunnyside Hotel in McCoIloms. Joseph Drutz, committee chairman, presided. The convention, delegates who will nominate a candidate for judge of the Supreme Court, are all attorneys. They are William Sheehan, of Saranac Lake; Adam Palmer, of Tupper Lake, and Francis Forah, of Chateaugay. The alternates are Joseph Stephen, of Saranac Lake; Galneau Pond, of Malone, and Robert Regan, of Ft. Covington.

Candidates for county offices were discussed at last night's meeting and another session of the county committee was scheduled for July 11 when the names will be approved Democrats are to be nominated for County Judge, clerk, treasurer, district attorney, coroner and commissioner of public welfare.

Mrs. Betty. Otis, of the Franklin County Board, of Elections, announced that central registration would be held at Malone Sept 20 and that cards were available to send to members of the armed forces for absentee ballots.

The Rustic Inn at the junction of the Mecham Road [sic] and Route 30, owned by Ernest Welch, is being sold to Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Samburgh of McColloms, The Enterprise has learned. Mr. Welch has been ill and unable to run the business. The Samburghs at one time owned the Sunnyside Hotel at McColloms.
