Tent platform permit #1197, opposite Pope Island, issued to John W. Gorgas in the 1940s. It was one of the last tent platforms to be taken down on Lower Saranac Lake, destroyed over Memorial Day weekend, 1977.

The front dockTent Platform Permit No. 1197 was held by John W. Gorgas and family from the 1940s through the 1970s. It was located at the northeastern end of Pope Bay.
Chris Gorgas, John's grandson, writes:
