FAMILY AND FRIENDS of Mrs. Theresa Menzel joined to wish her many happy returns on her 75th birthday which was celebrated yesterday at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Nelson, of Lake Clear Jct. Mrs. Menzel, born Sept. 25, 1880, in Vienna, Austria, came to this country in 1907 and lived in Syracuse until 1933 until the purchase of Tadd's Art School, renamed Menzel's Camp. For the celebration, the dinner table was covered with an heirloom linen cloth 100 years old. Mrs. Theresa Menzel
Mrs. Theresa Manzell, [sic] 83, of Saranac Lake, died yesterday morning at a local nursing home following a long illness.
She was born Sept. 15, 1879 in Vienna, Austria, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Mulhouse R. Frank and came to the United States in 1909. She and her husband Frank came to Saranac Lake in 1924 and operated the Menzel Camp on MacKenzie [sic] Pond. Mr. Menzel died in 1936.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Theresa Nelson, of Lake Clear; sons Fred J. of Lake Placid and Frank of Saranac Lake; five grandchildren and eight great-grand-children.
A Rosary service will be said at the Fortune Funeral Home Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Bernard's Church. Interment will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery.
