Thomas Claiborne Black, M. D. came to Saranac Lake with TB in the 1930s. He was a young medical intern from Lee's Summit, Missouri. He regained his health and went on to become a prominent physician working in the field of TB. He was a member of the Trudeau Society. He served as director of the Florida State Sanatorium in Orlando and the V.A. Hospital in Temple, Texas.
