WALLACE TO STAY IN SARANAC LAKE

Star in Three Sports Will Not Go West as Planned

SARANAC LAKE, June 16 — Tom Wallace, regarded as one of the greatest athletic stars developed at the high school, will not be lost to the institution this year. A change in plans made to go to California will keep him in the local school. He will complete his junior year this month and enter his senior year next September.

Wallace has been a consistent star on not only the track and football field throughout his high school well. He jumped center on last winter's basketball team and in no small measure it was his playing that made a championship contender of the local five.

As captain of the track team this season Wallace led his teammates to victory over Malone in a dual meet here and the championship of the Adirondack interscholastic league at Tupper Lake. He was the only member of the team to qualify in the sectional at Canton to go to the state meet last Saturday at Ithaca. There he lowered a state record he made last year in the 220-yard low hurdles altho, because of a tie with another track man from Rochester and a wind favoring the runners, his last year's mark, will stand for another year.

Wallace has been a power on the football gridiron for three seasons. He had a great year in football last year and was one of the most feared men by the schools that faced him.
