W. F. Mannix established the Adirondack Pioneer at Saranac Lake.  It was published from August 1892 to 1894 when its name was changed to the Adirondack Enterprise.

Adirondack News, March 24, 1894

W. F. Mannix, who established the Adirondack Pioneer, at Saranac Lake, but more recently correspondent for a New York paper, writes us he has become master over himself. Having for years straggled with the demon rum, he has finally thrown off the monster and now sees things in a far different light. He proposes in the future to devote himself entirely to the temperance cause. He will commence his new labors by a public address at the opera house at Saranac Lake on Wednesday evening of next week. We were pleased to hear of Mr. Mannix's determination to battle for the right, and we hope he may be enabled to overcome all temptations, and his teachings save many from following the crooked and uneven paths of intemperance. He is a good speaker and his energy and ability could be directed in no better channel. We wish him success in his new work.
