William F. Madden, Sr. was the founder of Madden's Transfer and Storage. He was the son of livery owner, William Madden.

SARANAC LAKE - William F. Madden, 83, founder and president for 60 years of Madden's Transfer and Storage, died Monday afternoon at Mercy General Hospital in Tupper Lake. His home was at 12 Lake Flower Avenue.

Mr. Madden was a charter and life member of Elks Club 1508 of Saranac Lake, a life member of the Moose Lodge, a 4th degree member of the Knight of Columbus and a former member of the Fire Department. He served in the State Guard in World War I.

Mr. Madden was born in Saranac Lake, a son of William and Bridget Murray Madden.

Surviving are: his wife, Marion C Lynch Madden; a son, William F. Madden, Jr.; two daughters, Mrs. Catherine Bola and Mrs. Helen Raimondi of Saranac Lake; two brothers, James of Lake Placid and Raymond of Glens Falls; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call at the Fortune Funeral Home this evening after 7 o'clock and Wednesday afternoon and evening. A Bible Vigil at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday will be followed by the Knights of Columbus presentation of the chalice.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 9 a.m., Thursday at St. Bernard's Church. Interment will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery.
