William H. Wardner was the son of Charles H. Wardner. With his father, and for many years after his father's death, he operated the Lake Clear Inn, before selling it to John Roosa.

[Note: there was another William H. Wardner (1828-1888) who is buried in Mountain View Cemetery.]

SARANAC LAKE - William H. Wardner, 86 of St. Regis Falls died Sunday at Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone.

Mr. Wardner was born in Bloomingdale, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wardner. His father owned and operated Lake Clear Inn from 1911 to 1932 when he took over the operation which he continued in 1960. He had lived in St. Regis Falls with Mr. and Mrs. Willard Cheney for ten years. He was a member of the Saranac Lake Lodge 1508, BPOE.

His wife, Eva Dukett Wardner, died in 1970.

A sister, Mrs. Mallie Fribance of Uihlein Mercy Center survives him.

Friends may call this evening at the Fortune Funeral Home. An Elks service will be held at 7:30. The funeral will be at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday with the Rev. George Brabon of St. Regis Falls officiating. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery.
